I bought this book last year at Library book sales. I had not touched it for long time.Last month i chose this book randomly from my bookshelf and started reading immediately. I finished the book in 3 hours. was it interesting ? not really, was it boring? not really but i laughed loudly many times.
The novel starts with the below sentence...
"கல் தோன்றி மண் தோன்றாக் காலத்துக்கு முன்பே, கையில் கால்ஷீட்டுடன் தோன்றிய கதாநாயகிகளும் ... வேதபுரம் "
This book is a political satire written wonderfully well . The book was published in 1994, even after almost 20 years Tamilnadu's political situation did not change much. This is the story of a imaginary country called Vedhapuram and its political situations. Apoorva , whose parents were from Vedhapuram , came to Vedhapuram to write a book about Vedhapuram and its culture. In a most comical way, she was engulfed by the Vedhapuram political system and became head of the state!! .

Though quotes like the above ones are hilarious but its true in most cases in our political society. This book won Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad award in 1997.
