Top 10 Countries in Publishing Science Papers & Articles

I was very much impressed by this list, since India is placed at 10th.This list was compiled by Royal Society of London which surveyed the various internationally recognized Science magazines. As i expected US tops the list with 21.2 percent of the total articles published, followed by China, this is something Indians have to look up, China have shot up from 6th position to 2nd in 4-5 years. In the same period India moved from 13th to 10th pushing Russia out of the top 10.
Its very important for India to be in this list so that Indian science fraternities will get reference and fund needed for new researches.I hope Indian government will invest in various researches and improve the infrastructure in the colleges and other educational institutions like IIT,IIS etc.
Its also very important for the teachers to make science classes as interesting as possible to the school kids, that is the time when kids starts exploring. We have to encourage our students to do research in various fields and government should fund them if needed.Still our kids lack behind in science lessons when compared to European countries.Below is the list of top 10 countries:

1.USA 21.2 percent
2.China10.2 percent
3.Britain6.5 percent
4.Japan6.1 percent
5.Germany6.0 percent
6.France4.4 percent
7.Canada4.0 percent
8.Italy3.0 percent
9.Spain3.0 percent
10.India2.0 percent

Pranchiyettan and the saint

Hats off to director Ranjith .Excellent story telling. The movie centers around the fictious conversation between St.Francis and the businessman Francis (Pranchiyettan). He is a successful businessman who grown from a small rice shop. But the name got struck with the people i.e Ari (rice) Pranchi. The three main characters Prachiyettan, omana(Kushboo) and Jose(Siddique) are friends from their school days, Pranchi loved Omana but he lost her to Jose who is his rival in everything. But the director makes a beautiful relationship between them when they grew up,still they are friends, completely trust one another - a delicate one.

C.Francis(Mamooty) did not like people calling him 'Ari Pranchi', so he started involving in charities and helping people to make name of himself. But whenever he tries to popularize his name he fails. The efforts that he makes with his friends specially with vasu menon are hilarious: he tried to 'buy' Padmasree award for himself, opening a jewelery shop and the episode of cultural club election, these scenes will definitely brings laughter to anyone.

He is very upset with these failures but the arrival of the lady Padmasree changes his mind.He helped Padmasree to regain his house by paying huge amount. He started romancing her but not strong enough to expose his love and she leaves to Mumbai.

When Pranchi hears that the school headmaster fears that the school will not get 100% result due to one student called Paulie who is not studying properly. He takes control of Paulie and provides him food and accommodation. He wants him to pass the exam and arranges special tutor Pandit Deenadayal to teach him. After first day's lesson, the tutor found out that the boy is brilliant than he expected. He tried to teach him differently (using Rubik's cube, Yoga ) but he fails. He informs Pranchi that Paulie is a brilliant student but lacks concentration and gave up.when the examination results comes Pranchi is shocked and angry on Paulie, who failed in the examination. He took the boy to his home but no one is there and he finds the story behind the Paulie's family. The rest of the story tells how Pranchi helps Paulie ...

St.Francis ask him to close his eyes and think of others(Omana,Jose and Padmasree), he finds out what will happen to them.He is very happy that Padmasree is decided to get marry him.
Master Ganapathy (Pauli)

Mamooty as Francis aka Pranchiyettan is excellent. No wonder why he is one of our best actor.Innocent as Vasu Menon, close friend of Pranchi has done a wonderful job. He is a class act!Priyamani as Padmasree is good(not much to do).Khushboo as Dr.Omana and Siddique as Dr.Jose as usual has done their role with perfection.Master Ganapathy as Pauli is a find of this movie, he is on his own, great acting skills.Jagathy Sreekumar as Pandit Deenadayal is hilarious,he is one of a kind.I liked the background score by Ouseppachan. Another feature of this movie is cinematograhy, wonderful work by the National award winner Venu.He brings the life to the events occuring in Prachi's life.

Director Ranjith
Ranjith again proved how versatile he is.Great work by him.Overall a good movie.

Associates XI

In this world cup four associate countries participated, unfortunately all four were out of the competition.I was quite impressed by the way some of these countries played.Very interesting to choose top eleven players:a team from these associates.

The most  impressive of all the associates in this world cup was Ireland, they played like a true professionals.Their ground fielding, their batting were excellent. The brilliant victory over England has given a huge boost for their youngsters who are pursuing cricket. They pushed India and Westindies to their limit. Future looks good for this Irish side.

Canada:they did their best, lack of experience was the main problem for thier bowlers, specially. They fielded pretty well and the batting was also good. The batting of Jimmy Hansra against Australia was the highlight of their campaign. What a hitting, he murdered the Australian pace attack, a treat to watch.

Netherland:The one batman to pick among the all the associates batmen is Ryan ten Doeschate, what a player. Two hundreds and couple of wikets and a wonderful fielder. The Dutch played well better than some of the main teams(test playing). They needs to play more international match specially their bowlers.

Kenya:Waste of talents!Nothing much to say about them in this world cup.Need to revamp the whole team.
As expected i have chose more number of players from Ireland and Canada. Here is my list:
Jimmy Hansra & Paul Stirling:These 2 right handers can handle any bowling attack.Nitish more attacking than Stirling. The Irish on the other hand have more control and variety in his shot selection.
Niall O'Brien:This Irish left-hander can play a long innings and he has that temperament.Very calm and watchful.
Ryan ten Doeschate- A class act
Asish Bagai- his sytle of play suite for the middle order batsman, wonderful offside player.
Kevin O'Brien - very dangerous batsman, can hit any bowlers on his day. what a innings against England.
Peter Borren - Accumulator, very good at the middle overs.
Trent Johnston - A proven match winner , steady line and length bowler
Thomas Odoyo - Wicket taker but gives lots of runs.
Harvir Baidwan -very good bowler, knows his limitations.
Dockrell - i should say he is  find of the tournament for Ireland, wonderful temperament for this young lad. Expect him to play in some counties soon.

I chose Borren as a captain of this side for his leadership skills. He can use Stirling or ten Doeschate or Kevin O'Brien as the fifth bowler and have variety in his attack.I have chosen 2 wicketkeepers since both of them are good batsmen.I prefer Ashish Bagai as wicket keeper than Niall O'Brien.
Here is my team:
1.Jimmy Hansra(CAN) -batsman
2.Paul Stirling(IRE) -all rounder
3.Niall O'Brien(IRE) -wicket keeper
4.Ashish Bagai(CAN) -Wicketkeeper/batsman
5.Kevin O'Brien(IRE) -all rounder
6.Ryan ten Doeschate(NED) -all rounder
7.Peter Borren(NED) - batsman / Captain
8.Thomas Odoyo(KEN) - bowler
9.Harvir Baidwan(CAN) -medium pace
10.Trent Johnston(IRE) -bowler
11.George Dockrell(IRE) - spinner
12th man:Alex Cusack(IRE)-Medium pace
Coach:Phil Simmons(Ireland coach)

Seems to be good team atleast for me.I hope some of these players will play in the next world cup.ICC should give more matches to these associates before these kind of events. One can not expect minnows to play in bar with the already well established team without proper exposure.ICC should increase the number of tournaments for this associates and allow them to play with the other test playing nations.

Great World Cup matches-III

Bangladesh Vs England
11-03-2011 Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium,Chittogong

After the loss to WestIndies Bangladesh's must win match. On the other England after their unexpected loss to Ireland also needed a win to keep their campaign on track. After winning the toss Bangladesh chose to bowl. They bowled very well.Their fielding was also good.Except Trott , none of the batsman showed any character. He played slowly and steadily.Morgan on the other hand scored run at a brisk pace.Unfortunately for England the lower order did not score any runs and they were bowled out for 225.Bangladeshi spinners bowled beautifully.

Bangladesh started their chase briskly.Tamim, in particularly scored at neak-break pace.He hit some wonderful shots.Another opener Kayes played very sensibly Once Kayes got out , Bangladesh had a mini collapse, evenyone in the ground left hoping that they will lose. But the lower order batsmen Mahmudullah and
Shafiul proved everyone wrong. They played very sensibily. One of the best partnership by lower order batsmen in recent times.I liked the way the approached the target, they knew that no need of risky shots. Indian lower order (in fact middle order!!) should learn from these youngsters.England did bowled well but it was not good enough to win the match. Shahzad bowled wonderfully , we swung the balls both sides and got 3 wickets. Anderson , again missed his line and length.Hats off to Bangladesh. They played like a "Tiger".
England:225/10
Trott-67(99)
Morgan-63(72)
Naeem Islam-29/2
Bangladesh:227/8
Kayes-60(100)
Al Hasan-32(58)
Shahzad-43/3

Man of the match:Imrul Kayes

India Vs South Africa
12-03-2011 Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur

Great match! The highlight of this match was the spectacular collapse of Indian batsmen. Its shame that the last 9 wickets fell for just 29 runs. The openers gave India a dream start.Shewag in particular murder the South African attack.Sachin in his usual best, one shot i will remember forever was the straight drive of Morkel(am i correct?!)he is a genius.Gambhir played nicely but the way he got out was unacceptable. As mentioned earlier the 'great' collapse begun after the wicket of Gambhir.Steyn once again proved how good a bowler he is! Wonderful performance.I like Steyn's bowling , he is a genuine old school bowler.India  should have score
atleast 320.It was very sad that they did not complete the alloted 50 overs.

South Africa started steadily.Amla and Kallis batted nicely. AB de Villear's once again proved his class, played some wonderful shots. He along with Duminy and du Plessis took the score near the target.Indian bowling, one word to describe:pathetic.Except zaheer khan , none of them bowled nicely.Harbhajan is he India's wicket taking bowler!! He lost his stature as a good spinner- atleast for me.I was not sure whether Nehra was the correct choice to bowl the last over. But Dhoni had a point , Nehra had bowled the last over in previous matches with success. "Our batsmen played for crowds"- Dhoni told that during the presentation ceremony which was completely true, atleast in this match.Over all a match to forget for India.

India:296/10
Sachin-111(101)
Sehwag-73(66)
Steyn-50/5
South Africa:300/7
Kallis-69(88)
Amla -61(72)
Harbhajan-53/3

Man of the match:Dale Steyn

Beethoven's Love Letters

I was listening to Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" ,i accidently clicked some link which took me to a webpage,an interesting one:Beethoven's love letters.I knew Beethoven was a damn good composer but never in my wildest imagination thought that he was such a romantic person.Read these letters which were written to a unknown person ,in a unknown year but it was written on 6th and 7th of July and not sure whether these letters were ever sent as it was not addressed to anyone.Read these letters of a musically and romantically wonderful person.

 July 6th, in the morning
My angel, my all, my very self. - Only a few words today, and, what is more, written in pencil (and with your pencil)-I shan't be certain of my rooms here until tomorrow; what an unnecessary waste of time is all this--Why this profound sorrow, when necessity speaks-- can our love endure without sacrifices , without our demanding everything from one another, can you alter the fact that you are not wholly mine, that I am not wholly yours?--Dear God, look at Nature in all her beauty and set your heart at rest about what must be--Love demands all, and rightly so, and thus it is for me with you,for you with me-- but you forget so easily that I must live for me and for you; if we were completely united, you would feel this painful necessity just as little as I do--My journey was dreadful and I did not arrive here until yesterday at four o'clock in the morning. As there were few horses the mail coach chose another route, but what a dreadful road it was; at the last state but one I was warned not to travel by night; attempts were made to frighten me about a forest, but all this only spurred me on to proceed--and it was wrong of me to do so.. The coach broke down, of course, owing to the dreadful road which had not been made up and was nothing but a country track. If we hadn't had those two postillions I should have been left stranded on the way--On the other ordinary road Esterhazy with eight horses met with the same fate as I did with four--Yet I felt to a certain extent that pleasure I always feel when I have overcome some difficulty successfully--Well, let me turn quickly from outer to inner experiences. No doubt we shall meet soon; and today also time fails me to tell you of the thoughts which during these last few days I have been revolving about my life--If our hearts were always closely united, I would certainly entertain no such thoughts. My hear overflows with a longing to tell you so many things--Oh--there are moments when I find that speech is quite inadequate--Be cheerful-- and be for ever my faithful, my only sweetheart, my all, as I am yours. The gods must send us everything else, whatever must and shall be our fate--Your faithful Ludwig
Monday evening, July 6th
You are suffering, you, my most precious one--I have noticed the very moment that letters have to be handed in very early, on Monday--or on Thursday--the only days when the mail coach goes from here to K[arlsbad].--You are suffering--Oh, where I am, you are with me--I will see to it that you and I, that I can live with you. What a life!!!! as it is now!!!! without you--pursued by the kindness of people here and there, a kindness that I think-that I wish to deserve just as little as I deserve it--man's homage to man--that pains me--and when I consider myself in the setting of the universe, what I am and what is the man--whom one calls the greatest of me--and yet--on the other hand therein lies the divine element in man==I weep when I think that probably you will not receive the first news of me until Saturday--However much you love me--good night--Since I am taking the baths I must get off to sleep--Dear God--so near! so far! Is not our love truly founded in heaven--and, what is more, as strongly cemented as the firmament of Heaven?--
Good morning, on July 7th
Even when I am in bed my thoughts rush to you, my eternally beloved, now and then joyfully, then again sadly, waiting to know whether Fate will hear our prayer--To face life I must live altogether with you or never see you. Yes, I am resolved to be a wanderer abroad until I can fly to your arms and say that I have found my true home with you and enfolded in your arms can let my soul be wafted to the realm on blessed spirits--alas, unfortunately it must be so--You will become composed, the more so as you know that I am faithful to you; no other woman can ever possess my heart--never--never--Oh God, why must one be separated from her who is so dear. Yet my life in V[ienna] at present is a miserable life--Your love has made me both the happiest and the unhappiest of mortals--At my age I now need stability and regularity in my life--can this coexist with our relationship?--Angel, I have just heard that the post goes every day--and therefore I must close, so that you may receive the letter immediately--Be calm; for only by calmly considering our lives can we achieve our purpose to live together--Be calm--love me--Today--yesterday--what tearful longing for you--for you--you--my life--my all--all good wishes to you--Oh, do continue to love me--never misjudge your lover's most faithful heart.
ever yours
          ever mine
ever ours
L.
what i can say, he was so romantic!! Listen to this master piece by the great man:
